Germany: Ingolstadt

On Thursday I got two postcards: one from Germany and one from South Korea.

The card from Germany is the Chronicle card of Ingolstadt. Ingolstadt is a big city in the German State of Bavaria. It was first mentioned in 806 and soon gained in importance due to its favourable situation. In 1472 Bavaria's first university was founded there, which became an important centre of the Counter-Reformation. In 1776 the Bavarian Illuminati were founded in Ingolstadt. Ingolstadt is a setting in the novel Frankenstein. Today it is an important industrial location. In 1989 became Ingolstadt a big city and is thus Germany's newest big city. Ingolstadt is also one of the fastest-growing cities in Germany, the fifth largest city in Bavaria and the second largest German city on the Danube.
