Morocco: Jemaa el-Fna Square in Marrakesh

Last Monday I got my first two postcards from Morocco.

One of them shows the Jemaa el-Fna Square in Marrakesh. Marrakesh is one of Morocco's four former capitals and one of the largest cities in the country. It is also one of the busiest cities in Africa and serves as a major economic centre and tourist destination. In November 2016 the city hosted the 2016 United Nations Climate Change Conference. The Jemaa el-Fna Square is one of the main cultural spaces in Marrakesh and has become a symbol of the city. It represents a unique concentration of popular Moroccan cultural traditions. The Medina of Marrakesh with the Jemaa el-Fna Square is since 1985 on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Cultural space of the Jemaa el-Fna Square is since 2008 also an Intangible Heritage of the UNESCO.
