Australia: Melbourne

On Wednesday I got three postcards: one from Australia, one from Italy and one from the United Kingdom.

The card from Australia shows the Flinders Street Station in Melbourne. Melbourne is the capital city of the Australian State of Victoria and the second largest city of Australia. During the Victorian gold rush in the 1850s it was one of the World's largest and wealthiest cities. Between 1901 and 1927 it served as Australia's seat of government. It hosted the International Exhibition in 1880 and the Summer Olympics in 1956. Today is Melbourne a centre of culture, education, finance, research and tourism.

Stamp:
150th birthday of Henry Lawson (from set of two) (issued 13-06-2017)

Thank You very much Sharon!
