Japan: Japanese Macaque

Yesterday I got three postcards: two from Japan and one from Germany.

One of the cards from Japan shows a Japanese Macaque. The Japanese Macaque is a monkey species native to Japan. Because it often lives in regions where the snow covers the ground for a big part of the year, it is also known as snow monkey. The Japanese Macaque is the most northern living non-human primate. They are known for their winter visits to the hot springs.

With a related stamp:
Year of the Monkey-charity stamp (from set of two) (issued 29-10-2015)
with a special postmark

Thank You very much Keiko!
