India: Basilica of Bom Jesus in Goa

Last Saturday arrived two postcards: one from India and one from Germany.

The card from India shows the Basilica of Bom Jesus in Goa. The Basilica of Bom Jesus was built when the region was part of the Portuguese Indies. It contains the tomb of St Francis Xavier. The basilica and other monuments in the region illustrate the evangelization of Asia and had an influence on the architecture of missions in Asia. The Churches and Convents of Goa are since 1986 on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
