Finland: Moominvalley Museum in Tampere

Yesterday I got four postcards: three from Finland and one from Ukraine.

One of the Finnish cards shows the Moomin House from the Moominvalley Museum in Tampere. The Moominvalley Museum was founded in 1987. It has about 2000 exhibits including original illustration by Tove Jansson and miniatures. Until 2012 it had its exhibition rooms in the Tampere City Library. Since January 2013 the collection can be seen in the Tampere Art Museum. The Moomin House was built by Tuulikki Pietilä, Pentti Eistola and Tove Jansson in the 1970s to be shown at the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava in 1979. It was built square unlike in Tove Jansson's illustrations where it has a round shape. Between 1980 and 1983 it toured the Nordic countries and after being repaired by Tove Jansson and after being shown in the Tampere Art Museum in 1986 it got its place in the Moominvalley Museum in 1987.

With a great matching stamp:
EUROPA (from set of two) (issued 08-05-2015)
with First Day Special Postmark
The stamp shows Sniff, Stinky and Moominpappa.

On the card is also a special Moomin priority label.

Thank You very much Sini!
