New Zealand: Palmerston North

Today I got three postcards: one from New Zealand and two from Germany.

The card from New Zealand shows Palmerston North on the North Island. Palmerston North is New Zealand's eight largest city. The card shows on the left site the Palmerston North war memorial (by the flags).

Stamps:
1915 The Spirit of Anzac (three from set of ten) (issued 23-03-2015)
In 1915 New Zealand was involved in the Gallipoli campaign. 2700 New Zealanders lost their lives in this battle, which is commemorated every year on 25th April in Australia, New Zealand and Tonga. The left stamp shows a scene of the Battle of Chunuk Bair, a summit which was hold by Commonwealth forces on 8th August 1915, but later lost in a counter-attack of the Ottoman forces. The stamp in the middle shows a fund raising of a community in New Zealand to support returning soldiers. The left stamp shows the Marquette memorial in New Zealand's first hospital chapel in Christchurch.

Thank You very much Sharon!
