Germany: Händel Monument in Halle

Today I got three postcards: two from Germany and one from New Zealand.

One of the cards from Germany shows the Händel Monument in Halle. Halle is a big city in Saxony-Anhalt and is currently the largest city in its state, the fifth-largest in East Germany and the thirty-first-largest city in Germany. In 1685 George Frideric Handel was born in Halle, where he also spent his youth. In 1703 he moved to Hamburg. The Händel Monument was unveiled in 1859 and is the only monument dedicated to Handel in Germany.

Stamp:
Glücksburg Castle (from set of two) (issued 02-01-2013)

Thank You very much Thomas!
