China: Longmen Grottoes

On 6th August arrived three postcards: two from China and my first card from Gibraltar.

One of the cards from China shows a carving of a Chinese fairy in the Longmen Grottoes. The Longmen Grottoes contain the largest and most impressive collection of Chinese art of the late Northern Wei and Tang Dynasties and represent the high point of Chinese stone carving. Since 2000 are the Longmen Grottoes an UNESCO World Heritage Site and since 2014 they are also a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Silk Roads: the Routes Network of Chang'an-Tianshan Corridor".

Stamps:
Cats (whole set) (issued 18-08-2013)

Thank You very much Elsa!
